B i o g r a p h y

Welcome!

Who am I?

My name is Francisco and I was born in a small village in the south of Portugal called "Castro Verde". There, I started my musical studies in the Conservatory studying Classical Guitar. Later, after having some harmony lessons, I discovered the art of composing which also fascinated me.

At the moment, I am living in Krefeld (Germany), working there, in Rheinhausen, Düsseldorf and in Maastricht (Netherlands). In my life I try to combine all these different skills: Performing, composing and teaching.

My main goal is to grow everyday as a musician and as a human being. I try to learn as many skills as I can, trying to become a complete musician. I worked as a composer, guitarist, bassist, teacher, sound designer, producer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor and all things related to music and sound.

I am also really passionate about learning languages! This website is only available in English but you can contact me also in Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian or Turkish.

My musical journey:

I started learning music at 11 years old. I picked the guitar as a instrument. In my teens, I constantly went to competitions and masterclasses with the most important classical guitarists and I even won several prizes and awards (list below).

Pararel to that, I started composing, which always fascinated me. What makes something sound good? Why do I get chills listening to some composers, but not others? Studying music theory and having composition lessons was my way of finding answers to those questions that have been on my mind from the very beggining.

When it came to the time of choosing a path, I had it quite clear: I wanted to become a classical guitarist, but I also wanted to continue composing, so I did two bachelors at the same time: Classical Guitar and composition. I completed both bachelors with a high mark, having received the "University of Évora Scholar prize" for that achievement.

In the meantime, I was still going to competitions and masterclass, winning several awards. In this period, I wrote my first orchestral piece "Sinfonieta em três andamentos", which was premiered by the "Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa" and received a composition award. That moment was very important in my life and gave me the motivation to continue pursuing composition.

After finishing my bachelor, I decided to go to Maastricht (Netherlands) to study with world renown italian classical guitarist Carlo Marchione. His guitar class is one of the best in the world. I did there my master in Classical guitar and I finished it "cum laude" (with distinction).

After this, I moved to Krefeld (Germany) to work in the Rhythm Matters Musikschule. There, I teach music, which is also one of my passions. I love to teach and help others. I also teach in the Institut für Popular Musik (IfPop) in Rheinhausen.

At the moment, besides teaching, I also work as freelance musician, writing music and sound design for trailers, videogames and films and as a performer, giving ocasional concerts around Europe.
