One of my passions is to teach. I started teaching at the age of 20 and I already worked in music schools in Portugal, Belgium and Germany, besides working as a private teacher in the Netherlands. Therefore, I taught students from many diferent nationalities. Each one is a unique individual for me, with a unique personality, taste in music, strengths and weaknesses.

Therefore, I never use "certified methods". For me, each student is different and all my lessons are custom made according to the preference / skill / musical taste of each student. That's why, besides English, I teach in 6 other languages (Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, French, German and Italian)! That is how much I care about communicating for everyone.

At the moment, I teach in Krefeld (Germany), in the Music School "Rhythm Matters" and in Rheinhausen (Germany), in the "Institut für Popularmusik".  I also give private lessons in Düsseldorf (Germany) and in Maastricht (Netherlands), besides offering Skype lessons. Here are some of the topics I usually cover:

- Guitar / Bass technique
- Music theory
- Composition / Songwritting

- Improvisation

- Orchestration

Here are some reviews from my students about my lessons:

Carolin from Germany:

"Francisco Chaves has been my amazing guitar teacher over the years and he taught me everything I need to play the instrument and so much more. His teaching shows diversity and verity and I have learned a lot of important things for life. Not just songs and chords, but professional terms, music history, musical symbols and everything you could imagine there is to learn about music. Francisco isn’t a normal teacher, he teaches with passion to the music and the hope to spread his knowledge. That is what makes him and his lessons so unique and amazing. I am grateful for every lesson with him, thank you Francisco Chaves!"

Kristina from Bulgaria:

"Francisco is a very good teacher and musician. He explains well the new material and is very patient too. He is always accurate and gives a lot of himself for the progress of their students."

Isabel from Portugal:

"Francisco is a brilliant classical guitar player and a great teacher. He is very creative explaining things and he adapts the lesson to the student. Moreover, he transmits his passion during the lessons, making the student very motivated to go home and study guitar. He is also very organised and the lessons have a certain structure/logic."

Bernard from Belgium:

"Nice teacher ! He doesn't put students under pressure. He adapts himself to the student's needs and progress."

Daniela from Bulgaria:

"Francisco is a great music teacher. He is very talented, clever, patient with his students. Always explains as many time as it needs. Always gives interesting and interactive home work and exercises to work the ear and brain. Also explains things in easy, understandable and interesting matter so that association takes place and stays in the brain. Also helps students and answer questions even in no lesson times. He is also funny and good listeners. He has tactful and good manner towards his students! I am very happy and satisfy with all his work, help and teaching work."

Stephen from the U.S.A.:

"Francisco was knowledgeable, prompt, and obviously cared about helping me. (...) He is a great teacher."

Lukas from Germany:

"I have to thank Francisco for his lessons and everything he has done for my personal development and improvement in music theory and playing the guitar. He would always manage to adapt to my personal speed of learning and especially his skills in music theory and composition make him a great teacher. He would never hesitate to write his own transcriptions of songs I wanted to play. I also really enjoyed playing some of his own compositions.

Furthermore, Francisco often organized little events where each of his students could present what they had learned over the past few months so I always had a goal to look forward to and kept learning. As I really struggled to play confidently in front of those people, he could even help me with that and brought to me important advice on how to stay calm in those kinds of situations.

I really enjoyed my time with Francisco and can only highly recommend him as a music teacher."

Emiel from the Netherlands:

"Francisco is very nice and patient and last but not least, very good teacher. I am always very impressed how easy he plays a piece of music without having prepared it. That means knowing how to play guitar. He is always accurate and gives a lot of himself for the progress of their students."

Tamara from Germany:

"Mr. Chaves was my guitar teacher for four years now. He has a great knowledge of playing the guitar and I learned the melody and chords from classic songs but also from new famous pop songs.

If I asked for learning a new song it was no problem for him. Everytime I had a question( and I had a lot 😅) he explained it to me as detailed as possible. Sometimes there were some misunderstandings and that was very funny. Moreover, I could  see his passion for music, especially in playing the guitar and he was not afraid to sing every song along. On the other hand, he also tries to explain the basic theories of music , diatonic scale and melodies. All in all I can say that I had a great and funny time."
